Sara Hoagland Hunter's newest book is Stories from Home: Married Days, a funny, tender book about marriage -- a sequel to her beloved book about childhood in simpler times: Stories from Home: Dover Days. These popular gift books, charmingly illustrated by Torrie Morrison, capture the comedy and poignancy of family life and are her first adult books.  She is the author of ten books for children, including Every Turtle Counts, winner of a Ben Franklin Gold Award, a Moonbeam Children’s Award, and a National Science Teachers Outstanding Science Trade Book Award. She is also the author of the beautiful Christmas story set on Nantucket, The Lighthouse Santa, about Edward Rowe Snow, who delivered gifts each year to lonely lighthouse families. Her best-known work is The Unbreakable Code, winner of the Governor of Arizona Award, a Smithsonian Notable Book for Children, and winner of a Western Writers of America award, as well as a National Council of Teachers of English award. This inspiring story of the Navajo code talkers of World War II is based on Ms. Hunter's extensive interviews with the code talkers and chronicles the tale of the 29 brave men who invented the code that was never broken.

Ms. Hunter has written for Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, and Jim Henson Productions. Her award winning video, "Born Journey," aired on cable stations nationwide. Ms. Hunter's two children's albums for Warner Bros., featuring the Baby Looney Tunes, are currently running daily around the world.

Ms. Hunter holds a B.A. in French and Italian from Dartmouth College and an Ed.M. from Harvard University.
